Mmmm... I know I am supposed to love nickel, but I prefer chrome for two reasons:
1. I've got a genetic skin vs. nickel thing going on where my nickel stuff hazes and ages in a really ugly way. My son had it even worse - after an exposure to heavy metals, he had a nickel allergy develop where he couldn't tolerate exposure.
2. I really feel like I'm damaging my nickel-plated hardware every time I play the guitars, even if I wipe it.
My horrible '74 LP Standard looks better today than it did the day I bought it used in 1977. Horrible.
You are, of course, welcome to your own opinion!

I know how those old 70s guitars look

It's all a matter of what you're used to seeing.I bought some reliced nickel covers to replace my 20 year old chrome covers (which had worn nicely over the years). They just looked fake to me, I put the chrome ones back on and it looks right to me again. I guess it’s just an opinion.
