I red the Volute got bigger in the 70´s. How big was the Volute from the beginning on a 69-70 Les Paul Custom and Deluxe?

Biggest volutes i ever saw were on late 70s Kalamazoo made Les Pauls. In 72 they began to grow, but its not always the rule. Some 74s i had were with smaller volutes than 72 or 71s. It often varied from piece to piece.

Depends on "definition". The original "small volute" and what I think most think of as a "small volute" concerning Gibson Les Paul's,as defined in Moon's website was '69 ... just a small bump... once it had a fully defined peak as in what we think of the basic shape of a 70's "large" volute, it did vary in size.
