This one is the earliest new LP model that has been documented. It sports the rectangle tenon cover. It beats out 0-8765 as the earliest. Gibson is calling this guitar the "Red Whale" with one whale of a price tag. It is also more costly than the $70,000 asking for 0-8876 . The Garage 0-8749 shows the characteristic of the 1960 model with plain truss rod cover, long pickguard, long neck tenon with the characteristic exposed heel join, pink and brown case and PAFS of course. 0-8875 has the rectangle tenon cover. All tThese Les Pauls have no Les Paul markings. However the catalogue new les Paul has the typical Les Paul script on the headstock and also shows a rectangle cover. I guess the catalogue LP is earlier.

Gibson signals: welcome to: 'The... Next... Big... Thang!'

Remains to be seen.

I love this example, but the market is a bit frothy and overwrought given where things are headed.
