1971 Gibson Les Paul Professional - This is a rare model of the Les Paul that Gibson only manufactured from 1969-1973 and in small quantities. The guitar appears to have all of its original components. It features a walnut stained Honduras mahogany/maple/mahogany body that is bound with a white binding that has taken on an appropriate yellowed hue with age. The neck is mahogany, which is also bound, with a rosewood fingerboard and Gibson trapezoid perloid inlays.
The body of this guitar is slightly larger and heavier than that of a regular Les Paul and this contributes to its rich tone and sustain. The guitar has 22 frets and a 24 ¾” scale.
The neck is similar to that of a Les Paul Custom and it has a small and comfortable volute. The tuners were made for Gibson by Schaller and are the split shaft type with closed back, and are stamped with the Gibson “G” and made in W. Germany. The nickel-plated bridge is original, which is the classic ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic with nylon saddles. The guitar stays in tune exceptionally well.
The best part of this guitar is the electronics. It features two of the acclaimed Gibson low impedance pickups and a number of tone switches and selectors. The guitar has a custom installed impedance matching transformer preamp/transformer to allow it to seamlessly connect to either high or low impedance amplifiers and consoles using a standard guitar cable. There is an internal gain control and switch that can be used to change the electronics from passive to active. Both give slightly different tones, which just adds to its versatility. This guitar electronics are extremely quiet and can get a plethora of sounds/tones. The guitar has a master volume control, a treble control, a bass control, and an 11-position rotary switch, which is called a decade control. A slightly different tone can be heard at each decade switch position. The guitar also has a regular 3- position (Lead/both/Rhythm) Les Paul pickup selector switch. There is a 3-postion telecaster type switch that is labeled tone selector and there is another slide type switch that controls the phase (either in-phase or out-of-phase) of the pickups. The tonal versatility of these controls is almost unlimited. This guitar is awesome for jazz and blues. All kinds of classic Les Paul tones are possible. You can even get decent twangy stratty tones from this guitar, as well as good hollow body (i.e. Gibson 335) mid-rangy tones.
This guitar is solid with no breaks or repairs. It has some minor dings and scuffs, and some belt buckle rash on the back. However, the cosmetic stuff is all minor. The guitar is in very good overall original condition, especially considering it is more than 53 years old. The neck is straight and has nice low action. This is one of the most comfortable necks I have ever played. The frets are low and flat but show little wear.
This neck is one of the most comfortable I have ever played. The guitar comes with a oversized vintage Gibson case. I believe the case may be a bass case, but I think it is original to this particular guitar and fits the guitar very well. The case is also in very good condition.
I am asking $2,995, plus a flat fee of $80 for shipping/insurance. Local pickup possible in the Boston area. These are rare, and I doubt you will find one for a lower price, especially in this condition.

Thanks.
These are cool guitars. Here's an excellent demo of a similar Les Paul Professional (not mine):
