Whenever I delve into these I get overwhelmed. I guess that's why I silent practice with a Fender Mustang:) Lots of great products out there for sure. Kinda leaning toward the Strymon.

Related Mashall-in-a-Box challenge by Andertons.

TL;DWatch: Danish Pete picks the Strymon, even against a recent Marshall Studio amp.

As much as I love my tweeds, I wouldn't want to have a month's rent riding on my ability to tell the difference between one of them and my $27 Joyo American Sound.

I know it's a big box, but daddy likes tubes and it has a built in poweramp, headphone out, graphic EQ, and FX loop. It isn't cheap but I've seen plenty of boxes that offer way less that cost the same.

The Yorkshire Gold Overdrive.
Wow! You have one. I believe the Klon was designed based on that.
Bloody brilliant Jim....

I'll stick it on Reverb...$5000, although half the innards will be missing....slurp slurp....

I have the cheapest Joyo American with me at gigs as an emergency backup rig. It sounds pretty bad but could get me out of a sticky situation. I think this is a great development area for those that don't want to go down a modelling route.

Over the years, I have wasted many dollars and time buying pedals and effects. Even now, my pedal board is crowded with stuff, and I've got boxes and boxes of effects that have been gathering dust. More and more, I'm playing clean, without effects, through a good tube amp (usually Fender tweed, brown or blackface). And sometimes with some echo/chorus and some overdrive on certain songs. I'm not a great musician, so it isn't because my fingers and brain do such a good job without needing effects, but more about satisfying myself that I can sound decent without all of them complicating my life.

I've gone through similar cycles.

I have a Taurus SH3 stomp head 60 watt 2 channel amp and a BluGuitar Amp1 Iridium. They sound excellent, are good for small stages and make a super good backup. Take up no space. Versatile too.

Wow.
This really does sound and act like a BFDR.
The knobs work the same. They got it right. Not close, or kinda, but really got it.
It does one thing and one thing only really well. BFDR.
You can seriously leave the amp and take this in your backpack and not worry.
This really is that amp in a little box.
There are options to swap out speakers and cabs or common BFDR mods, but the core amp stays the same.
IMHO, if you don't have the room for, or can't afford a real BFDR this is what you get.
This is worth it.

There are so many choices now, it's almost too much. I have a clean platform pedalboard with a few different distortion choices. Sometimes in the past I've had to play through unfamiliar amps where I've had to wrangle mightily to get a decent dirty sound. Now if I can get a decent clean sound, I can just use my pedals for the OD stink.
