Big amp, low volume, bridge pickup.
Oddly, the guitar I had that uncannily nailed early CB was a '67 Rickenbacker 335 with toaster pickups.

I think many of the classic singles were done with an ES-350T with P90s. I've seen old pictures of him with a Les Paul Custom. I have no idea what kind of amp he used.

OTOH, he would use Dual Showman Reverb amps and an ES-355 live and sound the same.
