For the past 2 years I've been looking for the perfect early 50's Goldtop with a deep carve, chunky neck profile, no repairs and a MoJo top. Last week I struck Gold, a 1952 Goldtop http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260658543216&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

From the pics in the auction I am hoping to be able to install a stop tailpiece and an ABR1 bridge (shaved if necessary). Stay tuned.....

Congrats, nice score! :salude

Do you know about the Keith Urban trapeze mod? ...could possibly make this into a great player without the need to install a bridge/tail setup.

Ya see...It didn't take long. Now you have done it. :wah

It is your guitar, but I would never mod a vintage piece like that. Heck...I can't even bring myself to mod a new piece. :wah

Seriously. I hate seeing old guitars boogered for whatever reason...

I saw a RI '52 the other day in a store with a wrap over bridge.....is this possibly an easily reversable mod?

This described mod is not reversable.
There are reversable mods, including the one below.

I've been trying to get this accomplished with my '52 for a couple years now. I'll let you know if it ever works.

The new ones that
were made after Les died has the modern neck angle.

On those You can se why Gibson did´nt like this setup back in the day, look at the height of the pickups over the top compared to an old trapez 52 with the shallow angle

The higher the Dome makes for less room to have for the Wraptail or ABR-1. That makes no sense. Later 53 the domes came down a bit. Finding a 52 that has the right dome is like bobbing for apples in the Ocean. Sorry Boog, been there done that. Out of 23 52's I have had through my hands in the last 10 years Only one had the right top.

I guess it's okay if you don't mind making more money for the other guys that own an unboogered one, since you'll be taking one more out of the existing number, making theirs more valuable as a result...

Yes, we all agree that it's not "our guitar" but in reality they all are since we only "own" them for a few years. So howlong before there are only a few left in original shape? Seems a shame, I'm jus' sayin'....
