Nice! It's hard to tell in the pics but aren't these supposed to have a metallic finish? Similar to goldtops?

I read an article in VG a good while back that featured a 50s copper iridescent LP. Tbe photos did have the metallic finish.
I don't have the guitar in front of me, but by recall it does have a bit of metallic characteristics. Will look again closely tonight when I play it.

Can't wait to get my Viceroy Brown model. I've been hunting for pictures of them in the wild! Was a bit of a punt buying one unseen, but I was in the market for an R6 and figured why not. Worst case it's an R6 with a semi-unique paint job 😀

I've actually played 2 of the original 5. Crazy that 2 of them turned up fairly local. The one Willies had more recently had a nasty headstock break.

Glad to see more R5’s. For years, 1955 seemed to be the year nothing happened worth making reissues. That was my birth year & I wanted an R5, I was surprised how long it took to find something. I bought a 2010 Exclusive Hot Mod Refin.

It’s a cool project Gibson took on, here - reviving these ‘55s which was the first year the standard LP models got the abr-1 and then introducing them at NAMM with such cool 50s metallic finishes. Perfect excuse to do a ‘55 RI 70 years on !

NGD for me! Celebrating GibSunday with my newly picked up R5. As promised sharing some pics. I got really lucky with this one as I pre-ordered and it was pot luck what example would be shipped by Gibson to the store. There is just the right amount of Murphy Lab aging and it looks fantastic. The fretboard is nice and dark, it's almost like an ebony! Best guitar I have ever played.

And here it is with my '03 Classic to show the fretboard comparison

@mikeslub - I clearly recall playing a version identical to the blue specimen you show (below) in a Detroit area music store in tabout 1977 or 1978. It was a used guitar and I half supposed it was a refinish. I remember how striking the contrast was between the natural mahogany back and the blue top. Maybe one of the NAMM specimens?
