I had a Japanese Strat (1990 model) and I sold it many years ago. Lately I've been thinking I need one of those again - you know - Hendrix, Surf, ect.. Tried a few (AVRI, Professional, Vintera) and just couldn't find the right neck/color/pickups combo. The other problem is my Gibsons are all Custom Shop Historics and my Tele is an early 2000's AVRI with a new rather expensive neck, and it seems once I got used to the Custom Shop stuff I find it hard to trade down. So this happened...

Year 2020 Custom Shop 1961. Used but mint and apparently never even played (zero wear), so I got a decent deal but not spectacular. Has the "relic ready" finish which is a really thin coat of nitro. This thing is an outrageously good guitar. The rosewood slab is excellent, and dare I say better than the Gibson Custom Shop by a smidge. Neck shape is exactly to my preference. Tone is killer classic Fender all the way. Yes I had to shell out 2x what I intended for a Strat, but I'm not getting any younger. Surfs Up!

That's a nice one  and with one of the more interesting colors offered (y) Congrats!

I have owned a couple of OTM Strats and the color can range from Teal to Sherwood depending on the initial paint application and lighting; makes for some interesting visuals

I love the look of both... but Pelham Blue, even Aged, does not equal Ocean Turquoise. ?

I have a similar non CS from about 1990 sitting in it’s case in the basement. It belongs to a guy who was doing tile work in th ehouse last summer and I offered to set it up for him. It has been sitting her since. Untouched.
I reached out to him in Oct.
So what is the law for non ocean salvage?
Nah. Really bad karma. It will sit there until reclaimed. I will track him down. The shitty economy and outrageous cost of housing here has put him and his family out of his rental and he is living with a relative and they don’t have much room.
That looks like a nice guitar. Play the crap out of it.

Sorry, it is conclusively definitive. Custom colors from the 60s vintage era were lifted by Fender and Gibson directly from the automobile manufacturing industry.

- Ocean Turquoise, used by Ford, is DuPont paint code 4285-L.

- Lake Placid Blue, used by GM, is DuPont paint code 2876-L.

They are not the same.

as I previously mentioned OTM can range from Teal to Sherwood Green; it's all about the lighting source .......

here is an OTM color finish/all 3 photos are the same guitar
