I guess ill just agree to disagree here, If they were selling amps for a few hundred bucks and building them over seas or charging 200K for copies of old ones id really 100% agree with you but it seems this is being done with intent and care for AHDs legacy and that of his awesome creations. if you see it as a "cash grab" I dont know how to change ur mind, are new R9s cash grabs cuz gibsons ownership has changed hands since the 50s ?

i guess my whole point is, we are yet to see what Drew Berlin and the people involved produce or how it is marketed, until then we should probably reserve judgement and not throw around CASH GRAB or BRAND CHEAPENING and the like cuz we have no idea what is actually going to come out of this.

in the case of both the brands you mentioned, i could be wrong but both of there common lines are produced overseas using mass production methods i have never encountered a custom shop or equivalent model for D'angleico although i believe they do make something on that level in the USA. in that case yes what they have done with the D'angelico name has not been on the level with what the man himself produced, and we have the mass production guitars to prove that. i am resistant to say the same about what dumble is doing because we just dont know yet and haven't seen it in the flesh

It will be interesting to see how they go about it. Will they narrow it down to a few different styles of amps and build idealized versions, or tweak each one to the player? A good friend of mine who is a monster player had 2 Dumble ODS amps, he had to send Dumble a cassette of his playing and then Dumble tailored them to his playing style.

I understand the protecting of the brand and all that.
IMO that amp sounded like shit.

pilot error.

the anderton sales monkey gives a great demo of how an iconic amp can’t save a shit player.

The playing was definitely shit. But still, c'mon. BF Twin Reverb and a 70's MXR Distortion + would sound better.

I'm surprised that in the year 2025... they didn't have an AI Hologram of " Mr. Dumble " himself endorsing the new amps from... wherever he resides now ! The Namm show ...rolls on !!

Anybody who has ever tried to make a Dumble will tell you that correct parts, e.g. resistors, are almost impossible to find. Anybody who tells you that resistor type/manufacturer doesn't matter has no business trying to make a Dumble.

The entire enterprise is just ridiculous. The "saving a legacy" stuff is, IMO, utter bullshit.

What's next, "Stradivarius lives again"? Protecting the legacy of "our dear friend Antonio".

This. It took me a long time to scrounge up the parts when I built mine. Sprague Q line resistors are virtually impossible to find now.
