Some 1968 Crown Inlay LP pics to start things back up

Here's my 1968 Crown Inlay LP road warrior.
I learned about this vintage here at the LPF.

I happened to come across this one years ago...at a GC. The sales staff did everything they could to educate me that this was an imitation Gibson - too many discrepancies to current production models. I let them go on and on...and them paid the price for an imitation guitar.

This one has an old top refin to natural, been humbuckered and Grovered. Otherwise, it's all there and a great sounding instrument. I toyed with fixing the routes and refining...but have decided to just play it for what it is. :yah

always loved that one! great story and top too. is that original finish on the back? if so, damn, would be so hard to not "Dave Johnson" that top only. (I've probably said the same thing to you about ten times before, sorry!)

Great guitar and great story (why does this never happen to me).
I used to own a humbuckered crown inlay (#985820) shipped from Gibson July 17 1968.
It was a great guitar, pretty heavy with a slim and small neck that I loved.
Maybe we could make this a "1968 crown inlay thread". I would love to see some more :salude

I also have profound 'thanks' to forum bro Guitplayer for his assist with period correct pickguard, P90s and dbl-ring tuners. Without his assist, I would still be sourcing parts to get this '68 closer to period correct.

I really like the look of this guitar. The clear/amber finish over that beautiful maple is very cool. It really retains a gold-ish look at first glance.

Do 68's typically have a center seam? I will never refinish my guitar, but just curious.
