I noticed the recent Advanced/Philly gold top hat knobs have a coarser gold flake then the earlier ones.

He's talking about Advanced Plating.

...but he's also right that they don't make everything for those other outfits. Just most of it.

There's about 10 companies actually making most of these aftermarket parts that 500 other individual companies claim they "painstakingly researched and recreated" when, really, it's mostly all the same stuff everyone else has too.

I'm guessing Advanced Plating has some kind of agreement with Gibson though whereby they supply them exclusively with the particular TH stuff?

These, the gold isn't the same as the earlier ones.
Vintage Correct Top Hat Knobs $17.99
Are these the earlier ones you are referring to, by chance?

...and the ones linked above, just for photo reference:

Neither are actual bronze flake, FWIW. I tested them both. I think the first ones are the knobs from CED / Amplified Parts ($2.25 without the dealer pricing): https://www.amplifiedparts.com/products/knob-top-hat-embossed-numbers-gibson-style

Even IF I knew anything about the private agreements that two companies I work with may have with each other, I certainly wouldn't be at liberty to discuss it.

I think it's obvious enough to say that Gibson is not getting ALL their TH parts from Advanced, anyway.
