I'm looking to but a guitar off ebay. Does this guitar look legit? It's a 2006 1957 Custom Les Paul. What's the going rate? Thanks very much.

That looks perfectly legit to me. $2200 would be a good price. I think $2400-$2500 might be more typical.

Better is subjective and wholly dependent upon the individual. I own two excellent 2013 Historic Les Pauls that are not "better" than my '99 or '00 R9's. The changes made in 2013 and onwards have printed spec appeal but do not equal a better guitar or a better investment.

that statement is not in agreement with my past experiences with historics.

in addition I have spoken with 2 dealers who are well known on this forum and Both of them indicated to me a strong preference for the historics made post 2012

so while I respect your right to express a viewpoint on the forum please don't state it as a FACT that I am wrong .

I am with you Big Al on this as I have the 2002 R8 and the 2014 R9 and they are both killer guitars , and each has there own unique personality . The 2002 , I had some issues with but after I got her straightened out with a lot of valuable help from the Forum folks she is a tone beast and fun to play . Since December 17th 2018 when I got my childhood Les Paul Custom back from the tech(Throbak MXV-SLE-101 Plus pickups which are to die for , also the same pickups in the R8) that's all I have been playing.

I walk a fine line on this one I ordered two Historics in 1994 , these were great guitars all round tone & build . My 2014 is very nice + a little more Historically true tone & build about the same although Im a died in the wool hack and most likely not able to milk these updates into some JAMF tones !!!!!

That guitar is for sale locally on Craigslist (here in Atl)- this ebay listing is BS. I have emailed the owner and gotten real time pics- it is for sale for $4000+ here so don't let this skew your idea of what a realistic price is.

I deleted it- but he had two guitars for sale- and I just noticed the floor in the pics was different, which for me raises a red flag. The seller here in Alt got back to me almost immediately though, and was willing to meet. I never did. I couldn't bear to sell anything currently in the menagerie, and I don't need so many guitars.

The above is the same seller though. He sent me pics of the CME guitar outside the case.
