My buddy Michael C is a Clapton historian and just unearthed these photos of Clapton and beano + bluesbreaker in spring of 1966 at EEL PIE Island Hotel in Twickenham London and Gold Hawk Social Club in Shepards Bush. Photos courtesy of Tony Bowen.
These are incredible....Enjoy

Cheers for these.
Interesting to see in the first pic a '64 head(no badge) and the 1962 combo, best ones I've ever seen of that one.
Also Beano with the covers on which makes me think those ones were taken in late '65.

Well we can safely say that the bluesbreaker combo was definitely a 2x12. I know in the past there was some head scratching about that. Or I am just imagining things and made that up.

Great, and frustrating at the same time - not enough detail on the photos for the avid Beano spotters (is that a ding on the treble headstock side, first picture?).

But then, Beano's current location is apparently known...

Not much detail of the LP top grain in these, unfortunately. Two things strike me: First, that he needed to elevate his Marshall combo! Maybe trying to preserve the bottom end of his "woman tone"? Second, that his pickups appear covered in some pics and uncovered in others. Did he waffle between covering/uncovering the pups or is that just the lighting playing tricks?

the covers issue i think just comes down to time line, we have no definitive dates associated with these shots. on what day and what year did clapton exactly pull them off and when did these gigs take place, there is a period where the covers are on for sure. i dont think there was a waffle cuz there is a famous quote from EC during this period about how much "better" the open coils sound, which then got many others to rip the covers off their PAFs

I wonder where these pics are coming from. Been seeing them pop up on Insta.

Right, I was basing my comment on his mustache (present or absent), but as he almost never had the same hair/facial hair style in any two photos in the 60s, that's not a good factor to go on!!

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it's been sold/traded on the black market without advertisement several times over the decades, like a stolen piece of art. But even then, word would get out. The likelihood that it's in the hands of the original thief after all this time seems to be gradually diminishing over time. Perhaps it'll turn-up in someone's attic like McCartney's bass!
